Recently, I was listening to a really great song. It is "Candles," by Hey Monday--I really recommend listening to it. One of my favorite verses in it is, "I'm beginning to see the light." But what does that really mean?
In this particular song, I believe it is talking about finding the "right one" and I won't be talking about that angle of finding light, since I believe light comes from Heavenly Father. The reason why Satan is darkness is because he is in complete and utter rebellion against God (no one does it better than Satan does). He wants us to sin, he wants us to feel pain, and he eggs us to commit disobedience in some form every single day. Satan never lets up on us.
The reason why God is light is because He himself is light. He wants the best for us, always has and always will. A famous quote from Elder Patrick Kearon states, "God is in relentless pursuit of you." This is very true. God reaches out to us but He respects our agency and will never force you to do anything.
So how do we find the light? Like anything in life, it does take work. Reading the scriptures, saying our prayers, and attending Church and the temple will bring you light. I would also really encourage you to either keep a journal or try to keep some detailed account of your day-to-day in order to see God's blessings towards you; blessings that you may not have noticed during the day.
How do you find light? Let me know in the comments!
