Newsworthy Vs. Sensational

What is actually news and what is actually gossip?

This is such a good question and if I am being honest, I don't know if I have the full answer but I think I have an answer that is adequate enough. We have all seen the tabloids breaking the news that a celebrity is going through a divorce or they think someone is being cheated on or abused. We all know that these rumors are either not true or very dramatized just to get views. We all have seen heartbreaking news about someone's death or someone going to jail because they have committed a horrid crime.

For me, news is newsworthy when there are trustworthy sources, the story is not out just for publicity, and if they actually have evidence. A story is sensational when the "sources" (if there are any) are lying or the "writer" just wants a big break. If they are hurting victims more than helping, a story is sensationalized.
